Basketball Recap: Littleton Lions vs. Green Mountain Rams
After flying high against Wheat Ridge last Saturday, Littleton came back down to earth. The Littleton Lions took a blow against the Green Mountain Rams on Wednesday, falling 66-39. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Rams are ranked 19th).

Littleton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Emma Bird, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Bird is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played. Samantha Hernandez Tobon was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Green Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Schafer, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Herrig, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and six steals.
Littleton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Green Mountain, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Littleton Lions face off against the Pomona Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Littleton is facing Pomona at the right time seeing as Pomona is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Green Mountain, they will square off against D'Evelyn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (D'Evelyn has won 11 straight at home, while Green Mountain won 11 straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
