Basketball Recap: Grant Rappold's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Illiana Christian over Griffith

Illiana Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They came up short against the Griffith Panthers, falling 63-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 67-54 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Illiana Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grant Rappold, who posted ten points and five rebounds. That's the most points Rappold has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Colin O'Hara, who had six points and five rebounds.

Griffith's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jakhari Mackey, who put up 19 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianni Feaster, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Illiana Christian now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Griffith, their record is now 4-1.

Illiana Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-59 loss against Highland on the 16th. As for Griffith, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-42 defeat against La Porte on the 20th.
