Softball Recap: Logan County Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After losing to Todd County Central the last time they met, Logan County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Rebels on Tuesday.

Addison Cartas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddie Burgess, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Kalie Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Logan County's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Todd County Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Logan County will venture away from home to challenge Hart County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Todd County Central, they will host Franklin-Simpson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
