Baseball Recap: Seffner Christian Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Seffner Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Freedom Patriots.

David Sidoti and Alejandro Hamana dominated on the mound. Sidoti pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Hamana tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Sidoti has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kris Colondres, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Nanns, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Seffner Christian now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Freedom, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-8.

Seffner Christian and Freedom could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Seffner Christian will square off against Santa Fe Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 283 places (304 vs. 21). Meanwhile, Freedom (ranked 458th) will meet Wharton (ranked 153rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
