Volleyball Recap: Mullen Finds Playoff Glory Versus Timnath

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mullen walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Timnath Cubs 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mullen took Timnath into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 15-10.

Mullen was led to victory by Braylee Shatley and Cassandra Menke. Shatley had 31 digs and three assists, while Menke had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Menke a new career-high.

Mullen was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups.

Mullen's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Timnath, their loss ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9.

Coming up, Mullen will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cheyenne Mountain at 11:00 a.m. Timnath does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
