Softball Recap: Triad Comes Up Short

Triad made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Waterloo, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-7 back in April.

Triad saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lil Lintz, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Triad has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season. As for Waterloo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Triad and Waterloo should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Knights will take on Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (84 vs. 237). Triad is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Panthers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Meanwhile, Waterloo (ranked 27th) will meet Granite City (ranked 397th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
