Baseball Recap: Esperanza Victorious

Esperanza's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Milken Wildcats, sneaking past 5-3. The Aztecs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Wiley Garcia made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other pitching news, Brody Reeds looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Esperanza's record now sits at 3-4. As for Milken, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Esperanza will square off against Sunny Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Milken, they will challenge Shalhevet at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
