            Baseball Preview: Union City Bears vs. Youngsville Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            The Union City Bears will take on the Youngsville Eagles at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Youngsville took a loss in their last  matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Union City, who comes in off a win.
Union City will roll into the  game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two  runs  back in March, then bounced right back against Iroquois  on Tuesday. The Bears walked away with  a   14-9  victory over the Braves. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bears' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
 Aiden Shuman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Shuman was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs.

 In other batting news,  Trevin Capela and  Ian Kinney did most of the damage at the plate:  Capela  scored two  runs while going 3-for-5, while  Kinney  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. Those  two  runs gave  Kinney a new career-high.  Cooper Fox was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Youngsville fell victim to Mercyhurst Prep and their airtight pitching crew  on Monday. They came up short against  the Lakers, falling  15-0. Having soared to a lofty 14  runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
 Youngsville now  has a losing record of 2-3. As for Union City, their  win (their first of the  season) made their record 1-2.
 Union City couldn't quite get it done against Youngsville in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024 as they fell  10-5. Can the Bears avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
