Basketball Recap: Hawthorne Comes Up Short

Hawthorne dropped to 1-2 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Buchholz Bobcats 64-26. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Hawthorne's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Amarhae Hopkins, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards, and Brooklynn Gillins, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

As for Buchholz, they now have a winning record of 3-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Taylor Booth had a dynamite game, putting up 26 points. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high. Jelaiyah Williams was another key player, earning ten points.

Hawthorne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-18 win against Union County on the 4th. As for Buchholz, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-41 loss against Williston on the 8th.
