Soccer Game Preview: Tompkins vs. Memorial

The Tompkins Falcons will take on the Memorial Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Tompkins is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let George Ranch get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Tompkins in their matchups with George Ranch: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Memorial got the win against Heights on Thursday by a conclusive 8-0. Given Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Heights are ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those six contests. Tompkins' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2-1.

Tompkins skirted past Memorial 1-0 when the teams last played back in January of 2021. Does Tompkins have another victory up their sleeve, or will Memorial turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
