Recap: Northwestern Bulls vs. Palmetto Panthers
The Northwestern Bulls pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-56 to Palmetto. Northwestern has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Calvin Russel and Micheal Flores certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Russel scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Flores scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Russel hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Myron Parker Jr., who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Santiago Henriquez, who scored 27 points along with six steals for Palmetto. Marcos Alberich was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Northwestern's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-6. As for Palmetto, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Northwestern and Plantation will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Palmetto, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reagan at 7:30 p.m. Reagan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Palmetto is ranked 131st).
