On Friday, Carlsbad faced Lovington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls fell just short of the Lovington Wildcats by a score of 47-44. The Cavemen/Cavegirls gained 79 more yards on the day, but it was the Wildcats that made the best use of them.
