Basketball Game Preview: Park Vista Cobras vs. Spanish River Sharks

The Park Vista Cobras will square off against the Spanish River Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spanish River took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Park Vista, who comes in off a win.

Park Vista is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Leonard: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Park Vista blew Leonard out of the water with a 56-19 final score. With the Cobras ahead 39-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Park Vista found their leader in freshman Tyaiwana Ousley, who posted 21 points and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ousley has scored at least a third of Park Vista's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlenny Hernandez, who put up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Spanish River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 32-28 heartbreaker at the hands of Wellington. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while the Wolverines are ranked 220th).

Park Vista now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Spanish River, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Park Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Spanish River when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 67-60. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Spanish River's Ellie Neuman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Park Vista still be able to contain Neuman? There's only one way to find out.
