Basketball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington lost against Franklin back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lexington Eagles had to suffer through a 75-44 loss at the hands of the Franklin Lions. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Lions are ranked 210th).

Lexington lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maya Bell, who posted 13 points and four steals. Bell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Trinity Bell was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Lexington is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-8. As for Franklin, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

Lexington will host Thrall at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Thrall has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Franklin, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Franklin Lions challenge the Rockdale Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Rockdale likes a good challenge.
