Basketball Recap: Gage Christensen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chino

Spanish Fork saw some tournament action on Friday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 71-68 win from a begrudging Dons squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 80th in Utah, while the Cowboys are ranked 752nd in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spanish Fork got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Christensen out in front who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points. Ben Clayson was another key player, going 7 for 10 on his way to 18 points.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yousef Ihmud, who posted 29 points. That's the most points Ihmud has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Jamison Jr, who put up 23 points.

Spanish Fork's record now sits at 4-6. As for Chino, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Spanish Fork didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-58 defeat against Cimarron-Memorial on the 21st. As for Chino, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-67 loss against Palo Verde on the 21st.
