Softball Preview: Monroe County Falcons vs. Clinton County Bulldogs

Monroe County and Clinton County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Monroe County Falcons will take on the Clinton County Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monroe County barely beat Warren Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Monroe County's way against Warren Central on Tuesday as Monroe County made off with a 10-3 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Bryna Cain was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Cain was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Cain is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Jazoya Bennett was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessie Cook, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Clinton County hadn't done well against Edmonson County recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Clinton County walked away with an 8-4 victory over Edmonson County. The win was just business as usual for the Bulldogs, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Clinton County's record is now 3-0. As for Monroe County, the victory got them back to even at 1-1-1.
