Football Recap: Manila Takes a Loss

Manila was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the East Poinsett County Warriors and fell 54-12. The Lions lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 32-13 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Poinsett County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dee Buchanan, who rushed for 111 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Blagg, who rushed for 29 yards and one TD.

Manila's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for East Poinsett County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Manila and East Poinsett County will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Lions will face off against rival Walnut Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Poinsett County is set to take on their familiar foe Izard County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
