Basketball Recap: Dakota Ridge Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Dakota Ridge was not quite Kennedy's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Kennedy Commanders by a score of 29-26. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Dakota Ridge still got an impressive performance from Darian Lewis, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kate Barbic, who earned six points.

Kennedy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aleeyah Garcia out in front who put up nine points and three steals. Garcia has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Keana Venegas-Alvarez was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Dakota Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Kennedy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Dakota Ridge has already played their next matchup, a 52-47 victory against Eagle Valley on the 18th. As for Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-11 win against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART on the 17th.
