Basketball Recap: Founders Classical Academy Beats Awaken Christian for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Founders Classical Academy hadn't done well against Awaken Christian recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Founders Classical Academy Centurions blew past the Awaken Christian Lions 59-29. The Centurions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Founders Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Mazza out in front who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Bruning, who had 14 points.

Awaken Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Kepler, who scored ten points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Kepler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games he's played. Jadon Kenney was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

The win (which was Founders Classical Academy's ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.7 points per game. As for Awaken Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Founders Classical Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-28 loss against Lincoln County on the 10th.
