Baseball Game Preview: Gunn Titans vs. Pioneer Mustangs

Gunn is 0-3 against Pioneer since February of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Gunn Titans will welcome the Pioneer Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Gunn had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Harker on Saturday. Gunn never let Harker get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory.

Cyrus Silva Rezvani was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sam Bogart, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Gunn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harker struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pioneer). They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Lincoln on Friday. The Mustangs have beaten the Lions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.

Gunn now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pioneer, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Gunn couldn't quite get it done against Pioneer when the teams last played back in March of 2017 as they fell 4-0. Can Gunn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
