Softball Recap: Patriot Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Patriot proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 19) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets 5-4. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Natalie Stanton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kiran Kapur was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Patriot hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matchups.

Patriot is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Osbourn Park, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5.

Coming up, Patriot will square off against Battlefield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Osbourn Park will be paying especially close attention to the Pioneers' contest: after the Pioneers face off against the Bobcats, they'll take on Osbourn Park again at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
