Basketball Recap: Dixie Chenoweth's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Astoria/VIT over West Prairie

Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Prairie Cyclones. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cyclones earlier this season, when they won 30-20.

Astoria/VIT lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dixie Chenoweth, who posted 14 points. That's the most points Chenoweth has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kathrin Miller, who had six points and three steals.

Astoria/VIT's defeat dropped their record down to 3-23. As for West Prairie, they moved to 3-23 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Astoria/VIT will take on West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Prairie has already played their next matchup (against Cuba/Spoon River Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
