Basketball Recap: Warrensville Heights Takes a Loss

Warrensville Heights fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Archbishop Hoban on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Archbishop Hoban Knights by a score of 58-56. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Knights are ranked fifth).

Leading Archbishop Hoban to victory were Kenny Scott and Sam Greer. Scott went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Greer went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Greer's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was John Johnson, who posted six points.

The defeat snapped Warrensville Heights' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record. As for Archbishop Hoban, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Warrensville Heights will venture away from home to face off against Lorain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lorain has won three straight at home, while Warrensville Heights won six straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change. As for Archbishop Hoban, they will square off against St. Vincent-St. Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in St. Vincent-St. Mary's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
