Recap: Bishop Manogue Miners vs. Damonte Ranch Mustangs
While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, the Bishop Manogue Miners were not quite the Damonte Ranch Mustangs's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Bishop Manogue fell just short of Damonte Ranch by a score of 57-54. While losing is never fun, Bishop Manogue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Damonte Ranch is ranked fifth).
Despite the defeat, Bishop Manogue saw an underclassman step up: James Williams scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Jamahl Jackson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bishop Manogue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bishop Manogue has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Manogue will take on Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Douglas has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 286 points over their last four matches. As for Damonte Ranch, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reed at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Reed focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Friday.
