Basketball Game Preview: Kenston Bombers vs. Walsh Jesuit Warriors

Two dominant guards in Morgan Cicek and Kara Esterak are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Kenston Bombers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Walsh Jesuit Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Kenston managed to keep up with Chardon until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Kenston came up short against Chardon, falling 60-35. The Bombers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kenston's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aurora Young, who posted seven points and seven boards. Mariela Macias was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Kenston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chardon only pulled down six offensive boards.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Walsh Jesuit proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 48-30 victory over the Royals. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Royals are ranked 86th).

Walsh Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points over those games. As for Kenston, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Kenston came up short against Walsh Jesuit when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 54-48. Can Kenston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
