Preview: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. San Benito Greyhounds
Los Fresnos has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the San Benito Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Los Fresnos' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Even though Hanna scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, Los Fresnos still came out on top. Los Fresnos came out on top in a nail-biter against Hanna and snuck past 72-69. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Los Fresnos has posted since November 24, 2023.
Jj Salazar and Gio Galvan were among the main playmakers for Los Fresnos as the former scored 24 points along with six assists and the latter dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. Galvan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Dylan Cervantes was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
San Benito suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 64-42 defeat at the hands of Harlingen. While losing is never fun, San Benito can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1126th, while Harlingen is ranked 154th).
Los Fresnos is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for San Benito, they bumped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
