Basketball Game Preview: Ansley/Litchfield Spartans vs. Axtell Wildcats

The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans will face off against the Axtell Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ansley/Litchfield saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Loomis. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 12-4 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kerry M Ryan, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and four blocks. Kiera Bailey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Axtell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost to Overton on the road by a 51-35 margin.

Axtell's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Ansley/Litchfield came up short against Axtell in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 39-30. Can Ansley/Litchfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
