Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge Trojans vs. Loomis Wolves

The Cambridge Trojans and the Loomis Wolves will compete for holiday cheer at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Cambridge ended up a good deal behind South Loup and lost 62-48. The Trojans have struggled against South Loup recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Cambridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Krayton Ruggles, who posted 19 points and five steals, and Hodge Raburn, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Ruggles a new career-high in steals. Brady Ahlemeyer was another key player, putting up four points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Loomis is still winless after their match against Bertrand on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vikings.

Loomis' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cambridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Cambridge skirted past Loomis 57-54 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cambridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
