Softball Recap: Douglas Gets the Win

Douglas proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Sardis Lions. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Lions on their field since April 27, 2024.

Bella Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mollie Kate Driver was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Sardis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-25-3 record this season.

As of now, neither Douglas nor Sardis have any future games scheduled.
