Golden Gate hasn't had much luck against Neumann recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Titans will take on the Celtics at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Golden Gate took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Everglades City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gators on Tuesday, sneaking past 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their one-run performance the match before.
Layla Garcia was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Alexa Pena was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Neumann and Oasis have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Celtics never let the Sharks get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The Celtics haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Sophia Escobar's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jennifer Drake, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jolie Barth also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Neumann's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Golden Gate, their win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.
Golden Gate suffered a grim 22-0 defeat to Neumann when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
