Roma extends road losing streak to eight

Recap: Roma Gladiators vs. Mission Eagles

The Roma Gladiators lost against the Mission Eagles back in November of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Roma fell just short of Mission by a score of 42-39.

Mission's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leon Villarreal, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Isaac Rios was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Roma bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mission, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-14-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roma will square off against Los Fresnos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Fresnos presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roma in Texas (Los Fresnos is ranked 326th, while Roma is ranked 1478th). As for Mission, they will head out on the road to face off against Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
