Baseball Game Preview: Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles vs. Lennox Academy Panthers

The Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles will square off against the Lennox Academy Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Animo Leadership is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Animo Leadership fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Environmental Charter on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the White Tigers by a score of 7-6.

Axel Serrano put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Andrew Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Alejandro Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Lennox Academy fell victim to Serra and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Cavaliers, falling 10-0.

Lennox Academy now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Animo Leadership, their record now sits at 7-10.

Animo Leadership couldn't quite get it done against Lennox Academy in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 7-3. Can Animo Leadership avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
