Soccer Recap: St. Thomas More Beats Charleston for Their Second Straight Victory

While St. Thomas More's victory against Charleston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sabers' defense stepped up to hand the Trojans a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. St. Thomas More's winning goal came courtesy of Alex Mbungu.

St. Thomas More has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Charleston, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Thomas More will head out to face off against Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charleston, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Teutopolis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
