Softball Recap: Kanab Wins Going Away Against Water Canyon

Kanab won the last time they faced Water Canyon and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cowboys blew past the Wildcats 14-4. With that victory, the Cowboys brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Taityn Spute made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Spute was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lindsey Cornell was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Savannah Hulet was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Kanab was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Water Canyon only posted a batting average of .235.

The win made it two in a row for Kanab and bumps their season record up to 5-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Water Canyon, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.

Kanab will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
