Basketball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield lost against Streetsboro back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Springfield Spartans were outmatched by the Streetsboro Rockets and fell 50-19. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Rockets are ranked 65th).

Kendall Wilderman was Springfield's leading scorer, having posted 14 points. Brianna Curry held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Taylor Holmes took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Naomi Benson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Streetsboro, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Benson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Abbuhl, who posted nine points.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Streetsboro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-18 defeat against Norton on the 4th. As for Streetsboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-32 win against Field on the 4th.
