Preview: Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers vs. Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils
The Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers will head out on the road to square off against the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Wednesday, Philipsburg-Osceola had to suffer through a rough 94-51 loss at the hands of Bishop Guilfoyle. While losing is never fun, Philipsburg-Osceola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 593rd, while Bishop Guilfoyle is ranked 64th).
Meanwhile, Bellwood-Antis was able to grind out a solid victory over Huntingdon on Wednesday, taking the game 60-49. The win was just what Bellwood-Antis needed coming off of a 77-53 loss in their prior matchup.
Anthony Caracciolo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with two steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Martin Fatzinger was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.
Philipsburg-Osceola has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Bellwood-Antis, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.
Philipsburg-Osceola came up short against Bellwood-Antis in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 40-32. Can Philipsburg-Osceola avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
