Baseball Game Preview: Althoff Catholic Crusaders vs. St. Teresa Bulldogs

The Althoff Catholic Crusaders will face off against the St. Teresa Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Althoff Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Althoff Catholic and Metro-East Lutheran have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. Althoff Catholic walked away with a 7-3 victory over Metro-East Lutheran. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly four runs.

Sam Roche tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Tyler Pollock was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Bo Gomric, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Althoff Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, St. Teresa lost 14-4 to Heyworth on Thursday.

Althoff Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Teresa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
