Baseball Game Preview: Reedy Lions vs. Wakeland Wolverines

The Reedy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Wakeland Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Reedy 3.1, Wakeland 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Reedy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Highland Park a 4-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Wakeland had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hawks 3-1.

Wakeland's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Reedy, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Reedy might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Wakeland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
