Basketball Recap: Al Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Belleview over Meadowbrook Academy

Belleview was the 67-25 winner over Meadowbrook Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Belleview Rattlers fell 53-45 to the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs on Monday. The contest marked the Rattlers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Belleview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Al Johnson, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Cade Campbell, who earned ten points.

Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in sophomore Zach Ross, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaige Daugherty, who put up 11 points.

Belleview moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Meadowbrook Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Belleview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-44 victory against Redeemer Christian on the 10th. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-23 win against St. John Lutheran on the 10th.
