Basketball Recap: Ottawa Skates Past Streator with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Ottawa's strategy against Streator on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Ottawa Pirates blew the Streator Bulldogs out of the water with a 59-15 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Streator still got an impressive performance from Ava Gwaltney, who posted eight points. That was a full 53.3% of Streator's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Ottawa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Streator, they dropped their record down to 2-29 with the defeat, which was their 24th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Ottawa will have a chance to go back-to-back against Streator: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
