Softball Recap: Galesburg Comes Up Short

Galesburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Moline Maroons, falling 16-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Silver Streaks of the 6-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Hannah Barton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Galesburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Moline, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.

Galesburg and Moline could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Silver Streaks will challenge Sherrard at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (452 vs. 26). Meanwhile, Moline (ranked 241st) will meet East Moline United (ranked 41st) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
