Recap: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Woodland Wolves

Even though the Woodland Wolves scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, the Mesa Verde Mavericks still came out on top. Mesa Verde skirted past Woodland 62-59. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mesa Verde.

Mesa Verde's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Jorgensen, who scored 22 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Jorgensen has scored at least 25% of Mesa Verde's points. Matthew Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lincoln Twilley, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. Twilley has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Ramirez, who scored 13 points.

Mesa Verde's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Woodland, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will take on Mira Loma at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mira Loma presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mesa Verde in California (Mira Loma is ranked 644th, while Mesa Verde is ranked 1311th). As for Woodland, they will head out on the road to face off against Dixon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
