Softball Recap: Minisink Valley Takes a Loss

Minisink Valley came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Kingston Tigers, falling 9-1. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Emily Smith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Minisink Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keira Filip, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Hannah Ringus also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Minisink Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Kingston, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Looking ahead, Minisink Valley will take on Wallenpaupack Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kingston, they will venture away from home to challenge Shenendehowa at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Plainsmen have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
