Football Game Preview: Union Pines Vikings vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers + Official Tickets

The Union Pines Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union Pines is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Friday, Union Pines strolled past Harnett Central with points to spare, taking the game 28-12.

Union Pines' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrian Colon, who rushed for 179 yards while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Those 179 rushing yards gave Colon a new career-high. John Erguiza was in the mix too, providing Union Pines with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Union Pines was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Union Pines' defense stepped up as well, laying out Koby Howard seven times. Dylan Benedict led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 7 total tackles per game. Josiah Sandler was another major factor on D, forcing two fumbles, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, Southern Lee came up short against Triton on Monday and fell 28-17. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southern Lee's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Union Pines, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Union Pines couldn't quite finish off Southern Lee in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 26-23. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
