Kellam is 5-0 against Grassfield since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Kellam Knights will host the Grassfield Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kellam comes in on seven and Grassfield on three.
Kellam and First Colonial met for a duel on Thursday where Kellam came out on top. Kellam put the hurt on First Colonial with a sharp 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Knights have posted against the Patriots since August 23, 2022.
Kellam walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-18.
Kellam got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Giulia Alison out in front who had 15 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Alison has posted since back in September of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Stone, who had 13 digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, Grassfield got the win against Western Branch on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.
Grassfield never let Western Branch on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-15, 26-24.
Landyn Smith was nothing short of spectacular: she had seven digs and 37 assists.
Grassfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in 13 consecutive contests.
Kellam pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Grassfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
