Football Game Preview: Middletown Cavaliers vs. Sussex Central Golden Knights

The Middletown Cavaliers are taking a road trip to face off against the Sussex Central Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Middletown will be strutting in after a victory while Sussex Central will be coming in after a loss.

Middletown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Smyrna, who was ranked sixth at the time (Middletown was ranked third). The Cavaliers secured a 33-28 W over the Eagles on Friday. The Cavaliers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Sussex Central was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Salesianum, falling 31-7. The Golden Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sussex Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Middletown, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Middletown came up short against Sussex Central when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 37-33. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
