Softball Game Preview: Ursuline Academy Lions vs. Newman Greenies

The Ursuline Academy Lions will face off against the Newman Greenies at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Newman took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ursuline Academy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Ursuline Academy turned things around against Metairie Park Country Day on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 20-2 margin over the Cajuns. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Newman's offense. They fell 5-0 to Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Greenies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ursuline Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Newman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Ursuline Academy might still be hurting after the 21-4 defeat they got from Newman in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Ursuline Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
