Basketball Game Preview: Effingham County Rebels vs. South Effingham Mustangs

Effingham County is 0-10 against South Effingham since January of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Effingham County Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the South Effingham Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Effingham County is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game on Tuesday. The contest between them and Evans didn't end well, with Effingham County falling 65-46. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Knights are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, South Effingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against Brunswick, falling 53-24. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.

Effingham County's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for South Effingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.

Effingham County came up short against South Effingham when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 45-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South Effingham's Hayden Johanson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards.
