Football Recap: Hawkins Skates Past Reseda with Ease

Hawkins's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 48-6 victory over the Reseda Regents. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 34-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hawkins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Desmaj Murphy, who rushed for 96 yards and one TD. Murphy got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 60 yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Jamarieah Wallace, who picked up 48 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kanwai Gillet, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The win got Hawkins back to even at 1-1. As for Reseda, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawkins will head out to take on Canoga Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Reseda, they will venture away from home to square off against Maywood CES at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
