            Softball Preview: Piedmont Panthers vs. Mooresville Blue Devils        
        
		
        
        
            The Piedmont Panthers will head out on the road to  take on  the Mooresville Blue Devils  at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Piedmont and Parkwood meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again  on Tuesday. Piedmont blew past Parkwood 10-4. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six  runs or more this season.
The team  relied heavily on  Taylyn Steele, who  fired off two  home runs, three  runs,  and four  RBI while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave  her a new career-high in  home runs. Another player making a difference was  Sarah Belk, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Steele wasn't the only one working in the  hit department: Piedmont  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 14  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least nine  hits in eight consecutive  games.
 Meanwhile, Mooresville got the win against Cox Mill  on Tuesday by a conclusive  14-1. The  win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won seven in a row.
 Piedmont's victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 7-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15 runs. As for Mooresville, their record now sits at 4-2.
 Piedmont came up short against Mooresville in their previous meeting  back in March of 2023, falling  4-0. Can Piedmont avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
